A season is a named part of the year with its own prices, such as a high season over December and January and again over July and August. It is made of one or more periods, each given as a day and a month without a year, so it applies on the same days every year and nothing has to be entered again when a new year starts. For a trip or course on a day inside a season, the Price list uses that season's price where you have set one, and the base price everywhere else. Open Settings, then Seasons in the Prices & payments group.
Add a season
Press Add season, type a Name, pick a Colour, fill in the Periods and press Add season again. Everything happens in this one dialog. The colour marks the season in The year at a glance and in the price list.
Set the periods
The dialog opens with one period to fill in. Choose From and To, both days included. Each opens a small calendar that shows a month without a year, and while To is still empty, picking From opens the To calendar by itself. Under a complete period the dialog shows its length, for example "62 days". Press Add another period for each further one; a season can have up to 12 periods. A season needs at least one, so the bin icon beside a period is there only while the season has more than one, and saving with a period left incomplete says "Choose the first and the last day of the period."
A period can run over New Year: one period from 20 December to 6 January is enough, and the dialog adds "Carries over into the next year". A period can also be a single day: pick the same day twice. 29 February can be picked; in a year without it, a period that ends on 29 February ends on 28 February, and one that starts on it starts on 1 March.
One season per day
A day belongs to at most one season. If a period shares a day with another period, of the same season or of another one, DivePilot does not let you save: both days of the period are outlined in red and a message names the other period, for example "Overlaps High season (1 Jul - 31 Aug)" or "Overlaps another period of this season (20 Dec - 6 Jan)". Two periods that meet on a single day overlap too: if one ends on 31 March, the next cannot start on 31 March. Change one of the two and save again.
The year at a glance
The card at the top, The year at a glance, shows the whole year as one bar, from January to December. Each period is a block in the colour of its season, and a period that runs over New Year appears at both ends of the bar. A grey stretch is made of days with no season, where the base price applies, and a marker shows today. Hover a block to see its season and period. Every year looks the same, so there is no year to switch.
Below it, each season has a card with its periods, such as 1 Jul - 31 Aug and 20 Dec - 6 Jan, and the number of days they cover a year, such as "80 days a year". A season with no period, for example one created before periods were required, reads "No period yet" and applies on no day until you give it one with Edit.
Season prices
You enter season prices in the price list: the pencil on a row opens a window with a line for each season under Season prices, next to the Base price. An empty season line follows the base price, and a season price applies on the same days every year. Volume discounts can price their tiers per season as well. See The price list.
Edit and delete
Edit on a season's card opens Edit season, the same dialog as for a new season, with its name, colour and periods. Change what you want and press Save changes; everything is saved in one step. Delete season, the bin icon, removes the season together with its season prices, those of the volume discounts included; the base prices stay, and the days it covered fall back to them. Each season also has a History button, which lists what changed, with periods written as day and month; see Activity log and change history.
Who can do what
Seeing, adding, editing and deleting seasons are separate permissions, grouped under Prices & seasons in the permission editor. Of the built-in presets, Admin and Manager can do all of it and Staff can only look. See Permissions explained.
