Some dive centers let you pay online. They send you a link, by email or as a QR code at the desk, that opens your bill: what you booked, what you have paid and what is left. You pay through Stripe, straight to the dive center; DivePilot never sees your card number.

Open your bill

Open the link from the dive center's email, such as the one with the subject "Your bill with …", the booking confirmation or a deposit email, or scan their QR code. The page shows, in your language:

  • what is on your bill, what you paid, refunds on their way as "Refund pending", and what is left;
  • under "Booked, not yet confirmed", bookings still waiting for the dive center, with any deposit due and its deadline;
  • an earlier bill that still owes something;
  • your invoices, credit notes and receipts of the last 12 months, to download;
  • the dive center's cancellation policy and contact details.

If someone else pays for you, for example because they booked for everyone and ticked I pay for everyone, the page says on whose bill your charges are instead of showing a bill to pay. Your own bookings that are not yet confirmed and your documents still show on the page.

The link keeps working for 180 days after the dive center last sent it or you last opened it.

Pay

  1. Choose the button with the amount owed ("Pay …"), or Pay another amount and type an amount between the smallest and the largest the page shows.
  2. Stripe's payment form opens on the page. Pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or another method the dive center offers. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment in its app or by a code.
  3. A card or wallet payment shows on the page within seconds, and you get the "Payment received" email; when the dive center issues receipts, the receipt comes in a separate email. Some bank payments take a few days: the page then says it will email you once the payment is confirmed.

If the page says "Please pay at the dive centre", the dive center takes no online payments at the moment.

A deposit when you book

Some dive centers ask for a deposit when you book on their booking page. You see it, and their cancellation policy, before you press Reserve my spot. Right after, the page shows the deposit of everyone you booked for and its deadline, and Pay … now opens the payment form. Once paid, it says "Deposit paid, booking confirmed", or "Deposit paid, the dive centre will confirm your booking." when the dive center confirms it themselves.

You can also pay later from your bill page until the deadline, and, if you have not paid about ten minutes after booking, the dive center emails you the link ("Your booking …: please pay the deposit"). You get one reminder halfway to the deadline. If the deposit is not paid by then, the booking is cancelled and you get an email ("Booking … cancelled: deposit not paid"). See Book a dive or course online. A deposit you pay by bank debit, such as SEPA, shows as on its way until your bank confirms it, which can take a few business days; your booking stays reserved meanwhile and you are not asked to pay it again. If the dive center waives your deposit, the page says so and there is nothing to pay.

Refunds

A refund goes back to the card or wallet you paid with. It shows as "Refund pending" until it is confirmed, and your bank can take 5 to 10 days to show it. You cannot cancel a booking or ask for a refund on the page: ask the dive center, who also decides about cancellation fees.

When something goes wrong

  • Your card was declined: nothing was charged. Try another card or method.
  • The page says the link is no longer valid: ask the dive center for a new one.
  • A payment form closed by itself: the dive center took a payment for your bill at the desk, or ended your link, while it was open. Open the page again and pay the new amount.
  • "Too many payment attempts with this link. Try again in an hour.": one link opens at most 20 payment forms an hour. Wait and try again.
  • You think you paid twice, or a payment is missing: check the payments on the page, then contact the dive center.

Your card details

Your card details go to Stripe and the dive center's own Stripe account. DivePilot stores only the amount, the date, the status and Stripe's reference. See Your data and privacy.
