After a boat trip, your dive guide can fill in a log of the group's dives: sites, depths, times and conditions. As soon as it is saved, the dive center sends it to you by email.
The email
The subject is "Your dive log from" followed by the dive center's name, and the email mentions the date of the trip. Press View dive log to open it.
The email arrives once your guide has filled in the log. For most trips that is the day after the trip or later, depending on when your guide gets to it. It is sent once. If the guide corrects something afterwards, no new email follows, but the page always shows the latest version.
Keep the email. The link has no expiry date, so you can look the dives up whenever you like.
What the page shows
The page is headed Your dive log, followed by the dive center's name, the trip date and your group's name. Each dive of the trip has its own card with the dive site and:
- always Max depth, Duration, Water temp and Visibility, with a dash when the guide left one empty
- when the guide logged them, Time, Avg depth, Gas, Tank, Water, Current, Weather and Waves
- the guide's notes underneath
A dive the guide did not fill in says "No details logged for this dive." Values are metric: metres, minutes and degrees Celsius. The last line reads "Logged by your dive guide at" and the dive center's name.
Note: Water and Current show a value on every logged dive, usually "Salt water" and "None", because the guide's form starts with those values already selected.
One log for the whole group
The log belongs to your dive group, not to you personally. Every diver in the group who gets the email receives the same link and sees the same page. It shows no names or buddies and no personal dive number, and the depths and times are the ones your guide logged for the group, not the readings from your own computer.
Keeping your dives
- There is no download, PDF or export to a logbook app. Copy the details into your own logbook, or use your browser's print or share function.
- You cannot edit the log. If something is wrong, tell the dive center or your guide. Their corrections appear on the same link.
- The link stops working only if your dive group is deleted, for example when the dive center deletes the trip, the group or, on a course, the session the group was made for, or when its data is removed after it closes its DivePilot account.
No dive log email?
- Not every trip gets a log. It depends on the dive center and on your guide filling it in.
- The email goes to the address the dive center has on file for you. If they have no email for you, or it contains a typo, nothing arrives. Check your spam folder too.
- Only divers who were in the group when the log was first saved receive it. The email cannot be sent again, but everyone in the group shares the same link, so a buddy from your group can forward theirs.
- Divers in other groups on the same boat receive their own group's log, not yours.
A dive log you did not expect
- A log for a trip you missed: if the dive center still had you in the group, the email reaches you anyway. You can ignore it, or let the dive center know.
- Family or friends in the same group who share one email address receive a single email. It greets only one of you by name, but the link is the same for everyone.
- On a course, open water dives on one of the dive center's boat trips form a group led by your instructor. The log your instructor fills in reaches the students in the same way. Pool and classroom sessions have no dive log.
If the link shows "This dive log link is not valid", see A link or page does not work.
