The dive center's booking page lets you pick a trip or a course and send your details in one go. Your spot is then reserved, not yet confirmed: the dive center checks it and confirms it by email.

Open the booking page

Use the link the dive center sent you, or point your phone's camera at their poster that says "Scan to book a dive". The page carries the dive center's name and, depending on what they offer, two tabs: Fun dives and Courses.

Choose a trip or a course

  • Fun dives lists the upcoming boat trips that still have room, with the date, the boat, the departure time and the dive sites. A badge such as "8 spots left" or "Only 2 left" shows how much room remains; a trip with no spot limit has no badge. Full trips are not listed.
  • Courses first asks "Which course would you like to do?", then lists the start dates under Pick a start date:. A course marked "request a date" has no dates yet and opens the date form straight away.
  • If no date suits you and the dive center accepts requests, choose Need a different date? for a fun dive or No date that fits? for a course. You then enter a Preferred date and a Preferred time, or a Preferred start date, up to two years ahead.

Some dive centers only take requests for fun dives. The page then opens the date form straight away, with no Change and no tabs, so only a fun dive can be requested there.

If a tab says "No trips are open for booking right now…" or "No courses are open for booking right now…", nothing on that tab can currently be booked or requested. Try the other tab if there is one, look again later, or contact the dive center.

Fill in your details and reserve

A card called Your booking shows your choice, with Change to pick something else. Below it, the form asks for your details in a few short steps, and may ask what gear you need. Fill in the details form walks through each step. On the last step, tick the terms box and press Reserve my spot.

After you reserve

You see Booking received! with your booking number, such as BK-0012, and a short list under What happens next. At the same time, an email, "We received your booking …", is sent to the address you entered, with the same details.

Your booking now waits for the dive center. When they confirm it, a second email arrives, "You're confirmed: …", with a calendar file attached. If they cancel it instead, for example because your requested date does not work, you get a cancellation email.

Bring a form of ID and your certification card on the day.

Still no confirmation?

Your booking stays reserved until the dive center deals with it. Nothing confirms or cancels it automatically, no reminder is sent to you, and a reserved spot is not yet guaranteed. If your dive date is close and no "You're confirmed" email has arrived, check your spam folder, then reply to the "We received your booking" email or call the dive center.

Booking a course

A course booking is confirmed when the dive center confirms it, usually as they place you on the course. The email and its calendar entry show only the start date saved on your booking, as an all-day entry. That date is not updated when the dive center places you on a course that starts on another day. The timetable of theory, pool and open water sessions is not sent through these pages or emails, so ask the dive center for it and for what to bring.

If something goes wrong

  • "Your previous selection is no longer available - please choose again." The trip or course you picked filled up or its date passed while you were filling in the form, or it is no longer listed when you come back to a form you started earlier. Pick another one.
  • "This trip is fully booked", which also appears for a full course, means someone took the last spot just before you.
  • "This trip is not available for booking", "This course is not available for booking", "This dive centre does not accept fun dive bookings", "This dive centre does not accept course bookings" or "This dive centre only takes date requests" means the trip or course was taken off the page, or the dive center changed what it takes online, while your form was open. Reload the page to see what is open now, and choose again.
  • "The date cannot be in the past", "The start date cannot be in the past" or "The date is too far in the future" means the date is outside what the page accepts, or the date of the trip or course you picked has passed.
  • "This departure time is not offered" means the time you chose is no longer available. Pick another Preferred time.
  • "Pick a date", "Pick a time" or "Please accept the terms and conditions to continue" means a request date or time, or the terms tick, is missing.
  • "Fix the highlighted fields before submitting" takes you back to the step with a missing or wrong entry.

For messages about the link itself, see A link or page does not work.

What the booking page does not do

  • It shows no prices for trips or courses and takes no payment or deposit. Ask the dive center how and when to pay.
  • There is no waiting list. A full trip simply disappears from the list until a spot frees up.
  • One form books one diver. Friends and family each fill in the form for themselves, and a child without an email address can use yours, see Fill in the details form. One internet connection can send the form at most 10 times an hour; after that the page shows a message ending in "Too Many Requests".
  • You cannot cancel or change a booking online. Reply to one of the booking emails, or contact the dive center directly.

Note: Every form you send creates a new booking. If you booked the same trip twice by mistake, tell the dive center so they can remove the extra one.
