Plan a boat trip

A trip is one boat leaving on one date at one departure slot. Press New trip on the Boat trips page, or click a day in the calendar, to plan one.

The trip dialog

1. Pick the Date.
2. Pick the Departure. The options are the departure slots from your settings, such as AM 08:00. Tick Set an exact departure time for this trip only when this trip leaves at a different time than the slot; the time moves in 15-minute steps.
3. Choose the Boat. Its capacity is the trip's capacity.
4. Optionally choose the Boat master. The person has to be free for the whole trip; if they already have a trip, a course session, a duty or time off in that window, DivePilot refuses.
5. Under Dive sites, press Add stop for each site the boat visits, in order. The site list only offers your first 10 dive sites in alphabetical order. Drag the rows to reorder. A trip can have up to 20 stops, and none is fine.
6. If your dive center offers scheduled trips online, switch Online booking to Bookable online so the trip appears on your booking page while it has free spots.
7. Press Create trip.

DivePilot allows only one trip per boat, date and departure slot. A second one is refused with "A trip for this boat at this date and time already exists".

There is no notes field and no per-trip capacity. Notes about a diver go on the booking's equipment note or the customer; capacity comes from the boat and from each dive group's Max divers.

Editing a trip

Open the trip and choose Edit trip from the actions menu. Changing the boat clears every seat assignment on the trip, and the dialog warns you before you save. Unticking the exact departure time returns the trip to the slot's time. Choosing No boat master assigned does not remove a boat master who is already set; the save succeeds but the same person stays on the trip, so you can only replace them with someone else. Team members limited to their own trips can only edit trips where they are the boat master.

Publishing later

You can switch Online booking on or off at any time from the same dialog. A published trip disappears from the booking page by itself once no spots are left. If a published trip does not show, see A trip or course is missing from the booking page.

Deleting a trip

Delete from the bin icon on the list. DivePilot asks you to confirm, then removes the trip with its groups, seats and guests. A trip with a saved dive log cannot be deleted. Bookings that were seated on it are not deleted: confirmed ones return to Reserved and, when no other trip is left on that date, show up on the calendar as bookings with no trip, so plan a replacement and seat them again.

The missing boat master reminder

If tomorrow's trip still has no boat master, DivePilot sends a notification once per trip.
