Boats live under Boats in the Resources group of the sidebar. Each boat has a name, a capacity and, optionally, a seat layout.

Add a boat

Press Add boat, enter a Name that no other boat uses and the Capacity in divers, between 1 and 200, and save. That is all; there is no description field. An archived boat keeps its name, so no other boat can take it. Once the boat has a seat layout, the capacity field is locked and taken from the seat count.

Draw the seat layout

Press Layout next to the boat to open the editor:

  1. Set the grid with Rows, up to 26, and Columns, up to 20.
  2. Pick the Seat tool and click or drag over the grid to paint seats. Walkway paints the aisles, Erase removes.
  3. Optionally press Add zone, name it, and paint seats with the zone's colour. Dive groups are later assigned to zones.
  4. Press Save layout. The button stays disabled until the layout has at least one seat. Saving is refused if seats and walkways together cover more than 400 squares.

Seats are labelled automatically by row letter and position, such as A1, A2, B1. Saving sets the boat's capacity to the number of seats.

Layout revisions

Every save creates a new revision. Trips that were planned before keep the revision they had, so nothing shifts under a trip already seated. A trip planned before the boat had any layout has no seat map; press Apply the boat layout in its Seating panel to give it the current layout. See Seat divers on the boat.

Archive and restore

Deleting a boat archives it; DivePilot asks you to confirm and notes that planned trips keep their layout. Archived boats sit on the Archived tab with the date, and can be restored from there. An archived boat cannot be picked for new trips. Trips already planned on it stay, but saving one in the Edit boat trip dialog is refused until you restore the boat or pick another one.

Pools

Pools in the same sidebar group works the same way: a name and, optionally, a capacity in people. Pools are where course sessions and pool blocks are booked; boat trips never use them. Unlike a boat, a pool with upcoming bookings cannot be deleted.
