When a boat has a seat layout, a trip can place every diver on a seat. The Seating panel on the trip page shows the boat as a map with the groups' colours.
Apply the layout
A new trip on a boat that has a layout usually carries it already. If the panel says No seat map for this trip, press Apply the boat layout. If the boat has no layout yet, the panel tells you to define one under Boats; see Boats and seat layouts.
A trip keeps the layout revision it was created with. If you change the boat's layout later, planned trips are not disturbed: Apply the boat layout only appears while a trip has no seat map, so a trip that already has one keeps its layout.
Zones
If the layout has more than one zone, each group can be given a zone from the select on its row. A zoned seat is reserved for the groups given that zone; seats without a zone are an open pool anyone may use. A zone needs enough free seats for the group, otherwise DivePilot refuses with the numbers. When every seat belongs to one of several zones, choose the group's zone before seating its divers by hand; their chips appear only then.
Seat by hand
Click an unseated diver's chip in the panel. The seats they may take pulse on the map, and a banner asks you to click one. Clicking an occupied seat frees it. Each diver's seat shows on their row in the group and on the printed checklist.
Auto-seat
Auto-seat places the unseated divers at once, as far as free seats allow: each group starts on the next column, back to the first column when there are more groups than columns, and fills toward the stern, so groups stay together, and the group leader gets the seat nearest the bow. Seats already assigned are kept. When no seat without a zone is free, a group without a zone is given the smallest zone with enough free seats for its divers. Clear releases every seat on the trip but keeps the zones.
Rules to know
- Changing the trip's boat clears all seats and zones.
- Moving a diver to another group clears their seat.
- Giving a group a different zone, or removing its zone, clears its divers' seats.
- Seating has its own view and edit permissions under Trip seating; team members who can view but not edit see the map but cannot change it.
