When the free trial ends, a cancelled subscription reaches its end date, or a failed payment ends it, DivePilot locks completely. There is no read-only mode. Your data is kept, and the account is not deleted automatically.
What your team sees
Signing in still works, but every page leads to one full-screen page. People who can manage the subscription see the plan and a card form under one of these headings:
| Heading | Why |
|---|---|
| Your free trial has expired | The 90-day trial is over |
| Your subscription has expired | A renewal or plan-change payment failed after the last retry |
| Your subscription was cancelled | The subscription ended, after a cancellation or a failed payment |
This page has no sign-out button, and opening the sign-in page only leads back to it. To sign in as someone else in that browser, open DivePilot in a private browser window, or clear the stored site data for my.divepilot.app in your browser settings.
Everyone else sees Access unavailable: "Your dive centre's subscription has expired. Please contact your administrator to reactivate access.", with a Sign out button. It says the same when only the trial has ended.
Nothing else in the app opens: not Settings, not a customer's Export data, not the Danger zone.
Your guest pages
| Page | After the trial ends | After a subscription ends |
|---|---|---|
| Online booking page | Keeps taking bookings | Shows Online booking not available |
| Self-registration link | Keeps taking registrations | Shows Invalid registration link |
| Waiver signing links already sent | Keep working until each link expires | Keep working until each link expires |
| Dive log links already sent | Keep working | Keep working |
After an ended trial, guests can still book and register, but nobody on your team can see what arrives until you subscribe. After a subscription has ended, the registration page tells guests the link is invalid or has expired; it does not mention your subscription.
What keeps running
Scheduled emails do not stop. Your staff still receive their daily reminder emails and the dive log requests for trips that were already planned.
Automatic updates carry on too: confirmed bookings are marked completed once their trip date has passed, and planned courses are set in progress on their start date.
Get back in
Sign in with an account that can manage the subscription and subscribe on that page, see Subscribe to DivePilot. The first payment is taken at once, the lock lifts for everyone (colleagues reload the page to get in), and your data is all still there. If only a colleague has that permission, they have to do it.
Note: If the heading reads Your subscription has expired, write to support@divepilot.app before subscribing again, so you do not pay for a second subscription next to the unpaid one. This heading lasts a day at most: the nightly check with Stripe changes it to Your subscription was cancelled if Stripe has ended the subscription, or lifts the lock, with the invoice still unpaid, if Stripe keeps it open. See When a payment fails.
If you do not want to continue
A locked dive center cannot delete itself from the app, and its data is kept with no end date. To have it erased, write to privacy@divepilot.app. What a deletion covers is in Delete your dive center.
