Subscribing turns your trial, or a dive center that has lost access, into a paid subscription. It happens on one page inside DivePilot and needs a card.
Who can subscribe
Only people with the subscription permission, shown as "settings subscription" under Settings in the permission editor. Of the built-in presets only Admin has it by default, and the person who created the dive center starts with every permission. For everyone else the Subscription tab does not appear.
Where to subscribe
- During the trial: Settings, then Subscription in the Account group.
- Once the trial or subscription is over: the full-screen page you see after signing in shows the same form.
Subscribe step by step
- Under Your plan, choose Monthly or Yearly. The price for your region appears on the right, and the yearly choice shows what you save per year.
- To use a code, press Have a discount code? and type it into Discount code. It is checked as you type, once it has at least 3 characters. A valid code shows a green box with the discount, and the price shows the reduced amount above the struck-through list price. Otherwise you see "That discount code is not valid, or it has expired."
- Under Payment details, enter the card number, expiry date, security code and country (and the postal code if the form asks for it).
- Press Start subscription. The button reads "Confirming the payment…" and then "Activating the subscription…". If your bank asks you to approve the payment, its window opens first.
Only cards are accepted. There is no SEPA direct debit, PayPal or bank transfer.
What happens when it works
- The first full month or year is charged at once. Any free trial days you had left end at that moment; they are not added to the paid period.
- The tab switches to your plan with an Active badge and the renewal date, and the first invoice appears under Payment history. DivePilot sends no confirmation email.
- If you subscribed from the tab, the trial pill in the top bar and the trial countdown above your plan stay until you reload the page. Until then, leaving the tab and coming back shows the subscribe form again. Do not use it: it would start and charge a second subscription. On the full-screen page you are taken into Settings.
When the payment does not go through
Mistakes in the card form, such as an incomplete number, are shown in red under the form. So is a card that cannot be confirmed, for example when the bank approval is not completed.
A card that your bank declines when the first payment is taken shows no message at all: the button simply returns to Start subscription and the page does not change. No subscription has started and nothing was charged. Try again with another card, or ask your bank why the payment was refused.
If the form does not appear and you see "Could not load the payment form. Please try again.", reload the page.
Note: Unless you then subscribe successfully, a declined attempt during the trial does not simply go away. A day or two later it can lock the dive center behind the page Your subscription was cancelled, even with trial days left. Subscribing successfully from that page restores everything.
Discount codes after you subscribe
- While subscribing you cannot see whether a discount applies to the first payment only or to later ones too. Afterwards, Next charge on the tab shows the amount of the next invoice, see Your plan, renewal and payment method.
- There is no field to add a code to a running subscription. If you forgot yours, write to support@divepilot.app.
- Switching between monthly and yearly does not remove a running discount, but the switch window shows list prices without it. Check the invoice for the amount charged.
- A code does not carry over to a new subscription after a cancellation. Enter it again when you subscribe.
