DivePilot sometimes drops you on the sign-in page without a word of explanation. There is always a reason, and it is almost always one of those below.

How long a session lasts

Once you are signed in, you stay signed in on that browser for 30 days after you last used DivePilot. Every visit restarts the 30 days. Closing the tab or the browser does not sign you out, and several tabs in the same browser share one session.

One session per person

An account can only be signed in on one device at a time. Signing in on a second device or browser ends the session on the first one within 15 minutes, without a message.

Note: Signing in on your phone signs you out on the office computer, and the other way round. If colleagues share one account, they keep throwing each other out. Give every person their own account from Users.

Why you were signed out

What happened What to do
Your account was signed in on another device or browser Sign in again, and see the note above
Someone pressed Sign out with your account, on any device That ends the session everywhere within 15 minutes. Sign in again.
The password was reset through Forgot password? A reset signs the account out on every device within 15 minutes. Changing the password under Edit profile does not.
30 days passed without using DivePilot Sign in again
An admin deleted your user, or the dive center was deleted under Danger zone See I cannot sign in
The browser's site data was cleared, or you used a private window A private window forgets the session when it closes. Allow DivePilot to keep site data in your browser settings.
Your connection, or DivePilot, dropped for a moment while the app was loading Sign in again once the connection is back. If it keeps happening, check the system status.

What signing out clears

Pressing Sign out, or being sent out because your session ended, clears the choices DivePilot remembered in this browser, such as the boat trips view and filters, the schedule week, the last settings tab and the language picked on the sign-in page. Your light or dark theme stays. Everything you saved is stored on the server and is not affected.

Sign out does nothing

Sign out needs a connection. Offline, the button appears to do nothing and you stay signed in. Try again once you are back online.

On a shared computer

Closing the browser keeps you signed in for the next person who opens DivePilot. Always use Sign out in the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar before you walk away. See Your profile, language and password.

Last login looks wrong

The Last login date on the Users page (the top date in the Activity column) moves whenever a session renews itself in the background, not only when someone types their password. A colleague who works in DivePilot every day shows a recent date even if they last typed their password weeks ago.
