Instead of the dashboard, DivePilot shows a full-screen page about the subscription, and any click sends you back to it. This happens when the free trial has ended, or the subscription has expired or been cancelled. Your data is untouched; access returns as soon as the subscription is active again.
What you see depends on your permissions
A person who may manage the subscription sees a heading that names the reason, followed by the subscription form:
| Heading | Reason |
|---|---|
| "Your free trial has expired" | The trial ended and no subscription was started |
| "Your subscription has expired" | Every retry of a failed payment failed |
| "Your subscription was cancelled" | The subscription was cancelled and the paid period is over |
| "Subscription required" | A renewal payment failed and is still being retried. Nothing is locked; see below |
Everyone else sees "Access unavailable" with "Your dive centre's subscription has expired. Please contact your administrator to reactivate access." and a Sign out button. There is nothing to fix on your side: tell the owner or whoever handles payments, and sign in again once they have subscribed.
When the trial ends
The trial lasts 90 days from sign-up and ends at the same time of day you signed up. The top bar counts down with a pill such as "12 days left", which turns into "Trial ended". Three days before the end, an email titled "Your DivePilot trial ends on …" goes to the business email from sign-up. There is no grace period after the trial.
Failed payments do not lock you out
When a renewal payment fails, DivePilot keeps working while the payment is retried automatically:
- The Subscription tab under Settings shows "Payment issue" with "We could not process your last payment. Update your payment method below - your account keeps working while we retry."
- The business email receives "Your DivePilot payment failed". While the payment is being retried, its Update payment details button opens a full-screen "Subscription required" page. Do not subscribe there, as that starts a second subscription; open the Subscription tab under Settings instead.
- If your bank wants the payment approved, the business email receives "Confirm your DivePilot payment" with a Confirm payment button.
To fix it, press Payment method on that tab, which opens the Stripe portal. Only if every retry fails does the subscription expire and the lock page appear.
After cancelling
Cancelling keeps full access until the end of the period you paid for; the Subscription tab shows the date. Once that date has passed, the lock page appears, and subscribing again from it restores access.
Where the subscription lives
There is no billing item in the sidebar. The subscription is the Subscription tab under Settings, visible only to people with the "settings subscription" permission. While the app is locked, nobody can change permissions either, so if no one on your team holds this one, contact support.
What your guests notice
Once the subscription has expired or been cancelled, your booking page shows "Online booking not available" with "This dive centre is not currently accepting bookings", and your registration link shows "Invalid registration link". An ended free trial or a payment that is still being retried does not close these pages. Waiver signing links and dive log links keep working. See A guest link says it is invalid or expired.
A different message at sign-in
"This account has been deactivated and is scheduled for deletion" is not about the subscription. It means the dive center was deleted. See I cannot sign in.
