A diver signs on their own phone, tablet or computer, without an account. The signing page carries your logo, colours and contact details, but not your dive center's name.
The email
If the customer has an email address on their profile, they receive "Please sign your waiver - …" with the template title. It says your dive center has asked them to sign the waiver before their next dive, and has a Sign waiver button, the link to copy, and a line saying the link expires in 48 hours.
The email is in the language set on the customer's profile; see Add a diver and their certifications. The page itself opens in the language last used on DivePilot in that browser, otherwise in the browser's own language, and the switcher at the top changes it.
Signing step by step
- The page shows the template title with the organisation and version and, when the template has a PDF, "Please read the waiver carefully before signing."
- The PDF appears in a scrolling box. The signing part stays greyed out until the diver scrolls to the end. If the PDF cannot be displayed, opening it with Open the PDF in a new tab or ticking "I confirm I have read the waiver document." unlocks signing. A template without a PDF can be signed straight away.
- On a medical template, the diver answers the ten questions of the Medical questionnaire. Any Yes blocks signing; see Required waivers and the medical questionnaire.
- The diver types their Full name and draws their Signature with a finger or mouse. Clear wipes the drawing.
- They tick both consent boxes: "I consent to conduct this agreement electronically and agree that my electronic signature is legally binding." and "I confirm I have read and understood the contents of this waiver and intend to be bound by its terms."
- They press Sign the waiver.
The confirmation reads Waiver signed and "Thank you, …. Your waiver has been signed and recorded."
The consent wording is fixed and the same for every template. The page has no date field, because the time is recorded automatically. There is no witness or staff countersignature, and no second signature for a parent or guardian; how to handle children is in Sign waivers at the counter, for walk-ins and children.
What the diver does not get
The diver receives no copy of the signed waiver: no download on the confirmation, no email afterwards, and no PDF with the signature stamped on it. If a diver asks for a copy, send them the template's PDF yourself.
What your team sees
The record turns Signed with Signed digitally online, and a Waiver signed notification appears in the bell for everyone who can view waivers. Nobody is emailed. The record keeps the typed name, the drawing, the time, the IP address, the device and, when the template has a PDF, a fingerprint of it. Messages a diver may see

Note: The limit of 10 signing attempts an hour counts per internet connection, not per diver. A group signing one after another on your counter tablet or shop Wi-Fi can reach it. Let the rest sign on their own mobile data, or wait an hour.
