The dive log form opens from the leader's email or from the trip page, on a phone or a computer, without signing in. It carries your logo and colours and opens in the language last used on DivePilot in that browser, otherwise in the browser's own language; the switcher at the top changes it.

One card per dive

The page is titled Dive log, with your dive center's name, the trip date and the group name. Each dive site of the trip is a card, in the trip's order, labelled Dive 1, Dive 2 and so on. A card is one dive for the whole group. There are no entries per diver.

The fields

Section Fields
Dive site Starts on "Dived as planned - …". Pick another of your dive sites only if the group went somewhere else
Dive profile Start time, End time, Duration (min), Max depth (m), Avg depth (m)
Conditions Water temp (°C), Visibility (m), Water, Current, Weather, Waves
Equipment Tank, from aluminium 63, 80 and 100 to steel 10L, 12L and 15L, and Gas, such as Nitrox 32
Notes Free text, up to 2000 characters

Good to know:

  • Duration (min) fills itself once both times are set, even across midnight, and overwrites what you typed.
  • A time cannot be emptied once picked, only changed.
  • Duration (min), Max depth (m) and Visibility (m) take whole numbers. Average depth and water temperature take halves and other decimals.
  • Units are metres, minutes and degrees Celsius. There is no feet or Fahrenheit option.
  • Water starts on Salt water and Current on None. They are stored with every dive you log, so correct them if needed.

If the site is not listed

The list holds your dive center's sites that are not archived, as they were when the page was opened or last saved, and a new site cannot be typed in. Ask someone who can add dive sites, with the built-in presets Admin, Manager or Staff, to add it under Dive sites in the Resources group; see Dive sites. Then reload the form or save it; both refresh the list.

Reloading clears anything not saved. Saving does not: once the site has been added, save with "Dived as planned - …", then pick the new site, which now appears in the list, and save again. Divers emailed on that first save see the planned site until you save again.

What the form cannot record

  • No import from a dive computer or dive app, and no file upload.
  • No start or end tank pressure, and no gas consumption.
  • No guide signature or stamp for a logbook or a training dive.

Write anything else in Notes, which divers see under the dive.

Save the log

Press Save dive log. Cards you did not touch are skipped, so you can log only some dives. The two preset choices alone do not count as filled in. With nothing filled in you see "Fill in at least one dive before saving".

After saving, "Saved - you can still adjust the details and save again." appears and the form stays open. The first save that stores a dive emails the customers in the group who have an email address; see What divers receive after the dive.

Note: Nothing is kept as a draft. Closing the page before pressing Save dive log loses what you typed.

Correct it later

Open the same link again at any time; the form shows what was saved. Each save overwrites the dives it sends, and a field you empty is cleared. Divers see the correction on their link, without a new email.

A saved dive cannot be removed: if you empty its whole card, the card is skipped and the old values stay. Apart from the saved values, nothing on the page says the log was already submitted.

Errors you may see

The page does not point to the field or dive that is wrong. Check the limits: max depth up to 350 m, duration from 1 to 1440 minutes, visibility up to 200 m, water temperature up to 60 °C, gas up to 50 characters.

Message What to do
"logs.0.Must be a whole number" or a similar message starting with "logs." A value is out of range or too long, or has decimals where whole numbers are needed
"One or more dives point to a stop that is not on this trip" The trip was edited while the form was open. Reload the page and enter the dives again
"One or more dives point to an unknown dive site" A dive site picked in a card was archived afterwards. A saved card keeps it even when it shows "Dived as planned - …". Reload the page, then in each card pick another entry and then the right one again, and save
"This dive log link is not valid" The link is incomplete, or the group or the trip was deleted
"ThrottlerException: Too Many Requests" More than 10 save attempts from the same internet connection within an hour, counting failed ones and other groups' logs. Wait an hour and try again
