Availability and pricing

The numbers behind the rental desk are simple once you know the two rules: capacity per size, and rate times quantity times time.

Availability

For each category and size, capacity is the pooled quantity or the number of in-service serialized items. Committed is every open rental line whose window overlaps the one you are looking at. Available is capacity minus committed.

• A per-trip rental only competes with other per-trip rentals on the same day whose departure windows overlap; anything without a slot counts for the whole day.
• A late return stays committed for today until the gear is back, but not for later dates. A late per-trip rental keeps its departure window, so today's per-trip rentals whose windows do not overlap it still count that gear as available.
• The count can go below zero, because the rental dialog lets you overbook and a stock quantity can be lowered below what is committed. When today's count is below zero, the Equipment page shows the size as short, and the size chip turns amber.

Pricing

• Per trip: the trip rate, once per line, times the quantity.
• Date range: the daily rate times the quantity times the number of days, both ends inclusive.
• A bundle charges its own rate for the group; its components are free inside it.
• A returned line stops on its return day; a bundle stops when its last component is back.

The total is previewed live in the rental dialog and broken down per line on the rental panel. Total override on a rental replaces the computed figure. See Returns, damage and overdue gear.

What does not exist

There is no deposit, no per-line discount, no rental slip to print, and no payment recorded in DivePilot. Money is settled between you and the guest; the rental records what went out and what it should cost.
