Serialized items carry a service log. Together with the category's service rules it tells you what is due and when.
Due dates
A rule such as "Visual inspection every 12 months" gives an item a due date of its last entry for that rule plus the interval. An item that has never had an entry for a rule shows Not serviced yet and is never counted as overdue. Once a due date passes, the tile shows Due and the health strip counts it under Service due. The dashboard lists it under Upcoming services from 30 days before the date and keeps it there while it is overdue.
Record a service
Open the item and press Add entry, or the wrench next to a rule:
- Service rule, or None (repair note) for an ad-hoc repair that advances no due date.
- Date, today by default, never in the future.
- Note, for example "Replaced O-rings".
The entry appears in the log with who recorded it. Deleting an entry removes only the log line, not the work done. The due date is then worked out again from the entries that remain.
Out of service
Mark out of service in the item panel takes it out of rental; the tile is struck through and the item disappears from the rental dialog. Return to service puts it back. An item on an open rental cannot be marked out of service until it is returned or the rental is cancelled.
Pooled gear
Pools have no service log and no out-of-service state. Adjust the stock quantity instead.
Where to look
The dashboard's Upcoming services panel and the chip of the same name in the Needs attention strip point at the items that are overdue or due in the next 30 days. They only check the first 100 items in label order, so with a larger inventory some due services may not appear there. See Track your inventory for the page itself.
