There is no "issue certification" button in DivePilot. Completion and the award follow from attendance.
A student completes
When every session of a student's enrolment is Present or Made up, the enrolment becomes Completed. If the course's template has an Awards level, the customer receives that certification card with today's date, unless they already hold that level. The card appears on the customer's Diving tab and in the header like any other. No certificate number is recorded; add one later by editing the customer if you want it on file.
A linked booking becomes Completed, and your team gets a Course completed notification.
This happens the moment the last session is marked present or reassigned to a makeup session. If something looks stuck, press Recheck completion on the student's row; it reports either "Course completed" or "Completion checked - sessions still outstanding".
The course completes
A course becomes Completed by itself once no enrolment is still open and at least one student completed. A course in which everyone withdrew stays as it is. Enrolling someone later reopens a completed course.
The completion date feeds compensation: a course rate is paid to the primary instructor when the course completes, per course or per participant. See Rates, salaries and how commission is counted.
Students stuck after completion
If a course completed while a student still has open sessions, the Active enrolments tab flags them in amber and DivePilot checks every hour and sends one Student stuck in completed course notification for that student, and a new one only after the old one has been removed. Mark the sessions, reassign them to a makeup session, or withdraw the student.
Why the template matters
Whether a certification is awarded at all depends on the template's Awards level. Templates created by the setup guide have it set; templates you created yourself only award something if you chose a level. See Build a course template.
