Attendance lives on the Roster tab: one row per student, one chip per session. The legend explains the chips: Pending, Present, Absent, Made up.

Mark a session

Click a student's chip to open it. It shows the session, its date and the current status, and offers:

  • Present, from pending or absent.
  • Absent, from pending or present, with an optional note.
  • Reassign to a makeup session…, from absent.

A completed or withdrawn student's chips offer no actions.

Marking the last open session present completes the student's enrolment; see Completion and the awarded certification. Marking an open water session absent also takes the student off the dive group on the boat trip, unless they are still pending or present on another session that shares it. Marking them present again does not put them back in the group.

Everyone at once

The column header of a session has a button that marks every pending student present. On a screen narrower than a small laptop, such as a phone or a tablet, pick the session in the bar and press All present.

Absences recorded on the trip

Anyone allowed to edit course attendance can mark a student absent from the trip page with Mark absent for this session. If the dive group covers several sessions of the course, a picker asks which session was missed, and a note can be added.

Makeup sessions

A student who missed a session can catch it up in another course planned from the same template. Choose Reassign to a makeup session… on the absent chip:

  • By default only sessions that fill the same slot of the template are listed. Show all sessions widens the list; a session for a different slot is marked and requires a note explaining the arrangement.
  • Press Reassign. The missed session becomes Made up and counts as done towards the student's completion. On an open water makeup session the student also joins its dive group.

An open water makeup session must already be on a boat trip with a dive group, otherwise there is nothing for the student to join yet. If that dive group is already full, the reassignment is refused with "The dive group has reached its maximum number of divers".

If the missed session is not linked to a template session, because it was added by hand or scheduled before the template was last saved, a session from the default list is refused with "The sessions cannot be matched by blueprint - an explicit override with a note is required".

Cancelled courses

On a cancelled course, attendance and enrolments are kept but can no longer be changed. Only Remove enrolment is still offered.
