Schedule the sessions

The Sessions tab of a course lists every session the template defines, plus any you add by hand. The counter at the top says how many are scheduled.

Schedule a session from the template

Each unscheduled row shows Not yet scheduled. Press Schedule on it:

• Start time and End time are prefilled from the template's start and duration. Leave Date empty and the session takes the template's day of the course. Set both times or neither; moving the start moves the end along. If you clear both prefilled times, the session still gets the template's times.
• Location is free text, such as the training room.
• Instructor starts at No instructor assigned. Left that way, the course's primary instructor is used for clash checks and on the schedule. Choosing someone whose roles do not include Instructor is refused; people with no roles are not restricted.
• Pool sessions show a Pool select. With one pool it is preselected; with several, choose one.

Press Schedule. Open water sessions are not scheduled here; they go onto a boat trip, see Open water sessions on a boat trip.

Add an extra session

Add session creates a session that is not in the template, with a Session name and a Location type. Open water is not offered there either. Every enrolled student gets a pending attendance row for it.

Pools and clashes

A timed pool session books the pool automatically for that time. If the pool is taken, DivePilot refuses and names the conflicting booking. The same applies to the instructor: if they are already scheduled, on a trip or on time off in that window, the session is refused. Sessions of a cancelled course keep their pool bookings and still count for clashes until you delete them. Reschedule the session to move the pool booking; it cannot be edited on the Schedule page, where clicking it opens the course.

Edit, unassign, delete

Edit session changes the date, times, place or instructor. Emptying the date or the times does not remove them; the previous values stay. Delete session removes it with its attendance records after a confirmation. Open water sessions have no Edit session; they take their date from the boat trip, and Unassign from boat trip takes one off its trip.

Where sessions show up

Today's sessions of courses that are not cancelled appear on the dashboard under Course sessions today, and every timed session appears on its instructor's row in the Schedule page, on the course's primary instructor's row when it has none, or in the Unassigned row when the course has no primary instructor either.
