Verify a diver's certifications

A guest who registers, books online or uses an update link can list any certification, including one they do not hold. DivePilot marks every card with whether someone on your team has checked it, what they found, and who.

Which cards are verified

• A card a guest entered themselves, at registration, in an online booking or through an update link, starts as Not verified yet.
• A card you add or change in the customer form, or in the certifications dialog, counts as verified by you.
• A card awarded by completing a course is verified straight away, because your dive center issued it. That also verifies a card of the same level the diver had listed, even one marked not valid.
• Cards already on file when this feature arrived count as verified, except those a guest listed when registering themselves.

Each card on the customer's Diving tab shows "Verified by … on …", "Verified on …" when nobody is named, "Marked not valid by … on …", or Not verified yet.

Check the cards

Check certifications opens a dialog with every card the diver has on file. It is on the certification row of a booking's arrival checklist, next to each diver in a group's Certification check, behind the amber shield on a diver's row on the trip page, and on the customer's Diving tab. It is highlighted while a card is not verified.

• Verify marks a card as checked by you. Compare it with the card the diver shows you first.
• Not valid marks a card the diver does not actually hold, for example an instructor rating they cannot show. The card stays on file, crossed out, but no longer counts: dive group requirements and course prerequisites treat the diver as not holding it, and it is left out of their highest certification.
• Undo sets a verified or not valid card back to Not verified yet.
• Correct lets you fix the card number or the issue date. Save and verify stores the change and marks the card as verified by you, also when it was marked not valid.
• Add certification adds a card the diver holds but did not list, with its level, number and issue date. It counts as verified by you.

Removing a card is done in the customer form. Verifying, marking not valid, undoing and correcting need the permission to edit certifications, adding one the permission to create certifications.

Where unchecked and not valid cards show up

• Booking page: the certification row of the arrival checklist counts the cards still to check or marked not valid, such as "2 to check · 1 not valid", or reads "All certifications verified", and shows each card as a coloured chip. It stays amber until every card is verified. See Check in a guest with their QR code.
• Trip page: the Departure check shows how many divers have unverified certifications, and each of them has an amber shield on their row. A diver with a card marked not valid has a red shield instead. See The trip page.
• Certification check on a dive group: a card that meets the group's requirement but is not verified still counts, but the diver turns amber and the line adds "not verified". See Dive groups.

An unverified card never blocks a booking or a seat. It only asks your team to look at it. A card marked not valid does not block anything either, but the diver no longer meets requirements that relied on it.
